Michael Dering

Michael Dering

Mr. Dering has over 25 years experience in successfully managing and growing technology firms.   Mr. Dering specializes in supporting both the executive management team and the board of emerging growth companies.  Mr. Dering often provides both CEO mentoring services as well as help with a company's growth and strategic direction.  Mr. Dering is an active board member and consultant for a number of very successful high tech companies in the greater mid-Atlantic region.

Prior to forming D&E, Mr. Dering was President and CEO of ServiceBench.  ServiceBench experienced rapid growth by developing innovative “Service Management On-Demand” solutions, attracting prestigious new customers and expanding internationally.  As a result, ServiceBench was recognized by Deloitte as one of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America.  ServiceBench was sold to NEW in January 2008.

Prior to ServiceBench, Mr. Dering served as President and CEO of CrossAccess Corporation, a multi-national venture-funded software infrastructure company that focused on integrating corporate business functions with new e-business applications.  Prior to joining CrossAccess, Mr. Dering served as President and CEO of two publicly traded Bell & Howell companies. Under Mr. Dering's leadership, Bell & Howell Mail and Messaging Technologies (MMT) doubled its profits and grew its revenue to $500 million while cultivating a broad customer base that included telecommunications carriers.  At Bell & Howell Publishing Services (PSC), Mr. Dering launched its European operation and implemented a focused sales program that resulted in increased market share. Previously, Mr. Dering had a 20-year career at TAB Products Company, a $170 million publicly traded manufacturer of information storage and retrieval solutions for office environments.  He initially served in a variety of sales and marketing positions, and, in his last five years, was TAB's President and CEO, helping turn around the company and making it the dominant industry leader.

Mr. Dering holds multiple board positions including 3PillarGlobal, Valencell, HelloWallet, Fishbowl, Bridgeborn, Washington Management Group/CCS, StrikeIron, The Royalty Exchange and MindShare. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Maryland.

John Estrada

John Estrada

Mr. Estrada provides technology engineering and business acceleration services to a wide range of companies.  In  technology engineering, Mr. Estrada has helped companies with large system implementations, technology direction and implementation and testing and quality assurance.  For business acceleration, Mr. Estrada has taken interim leadership positions in a number of companies to help with strategic direction, growth and exit strategies.

Prior to forming D&E, Mr. Estrada was one of the founders of ServiceBench.  He was the CEO or COO during his nine years at ServiceBench and with Mr. Dering, led its growth to over 100 people before it was sold in 2008.  Mr. Estrada has over 25 years of experience in corporate management of leading software application and development firms as well as a deep understanding of the service industry. Mr. Estrada has extensive experience in complex software design, including development, implementation, and support of Internet, SaaS and e-commerce systems. This experience sparked the launch of ServiceBench which set the standard for true end to end service channel support systems, improving both business processes and business intelligence for manufacturers, retailers and their service channel partners.

Mr. Estrada was CEO and founder of Sideout Technologies, Inc. which successfully developed customized Internet based software solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Prior to Sideout Technologies, Mr. Estrada led software development for DSR, a government contract firm and was instrumental in spurring rapid growth of the company from 3 to 150 people.

Mr. Estrada has held multiple corporate advisory board positions including Registria, Three Pillar Software, BEST (Business Electronics Soldering Technologies), Natural Insight and TutorFind.  He received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from Virginia Tech.

Heather Stevens

Heather  Stevens

Ms. Stevens provides technology engineering services to systems development.  She specializes in product management and system design.  Ms Stevens is exceptionally skilled at developing business requirements so that they can be easily implemented by a development team and more importantly so they provide a solution to the client's business problems.

Prior to joining D&E, Ms. Stevens was Director of Product Management for ServiceBench.  In this role, she established all product management/business analysis processes and procedures, requirements and design document templates, and implemented new SDLC processes based on industry best practices. She managed the implementation and deployment of an integrated business intelligence solution in three months that was the key function in ServiceBench maintaining its technology edge over the competition.  In addition, she led the largest project ever undertaken by ServiceBench which was to re-architect and re-platform the entire application.  Ms Stevens was directly responsible for the development of new user interface standards and defining the processes for facilitating portability to the new architecture.  She was also responsible for the internationalization and localization of the ServiceBench software suite in Canada, Latin America and Europe and laid the groundwork for Asia (including multi-byte language capabilities).

Prior to ServiceBench, Ms. Stevens worked for JP Morgan Chase Vastera (recently acquired by Livingston International).  Vastera provides installed solutions for Global Trade Management (GTM).  In this role, she directed a major system overhaul which transformed a previously unsuccessful product into a flagship solution.  The new solution yielded several multimillion-dollar contracts with companies such as Nike, Ford and General Electric.

Ms Stevens has a BS in Aerospace Studies and minors in Mathematics, Aircraft Accident Investigation, Professional Communications, and Humanities from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

Rick Sterrett

Rick Sterrett

Mr. Sterrett provides services in both technology engineering and business acceleration.  He has experience with capital raising, business creation, strategic partnerships and alliance development for technology commercialization, operations and marketing. He has expertise in consumer products, electronics, healthcare/life sciences, and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Prior to D&E, Mr. Sterrett was the COO of Cernium Corporation / CheckVideo.  The company provided advanced video security technology and Mr. Sterrett was responsible for customer and field service, operations, manufacturing, production, IT and quality assurance.  Along with Mr., Estrada, Mr. Sterrett led a management buyout and subsequent sale to a strategic buyer.

Previously, Mr Sterrett led operations and technology for a number of early stage technology companies in the healthcare and bio-informatics industries.  Mr. Sterrett's responsibilities included management of IT, customer support, product development, professional and project services, international operations and M&A support.

Mr. Sterrett has also spent 15 years with IBM providing consulting to services to internal and external customers on IT strategy, asset evaluation, supply chain management, large system implementation and automated manufacturing and test equipment.

Mr. Sterrett has both a Master of Engineering Degree and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
